Drive Solutions are concerned with the transmission systems of a machine or vehicle. A transmission system, or gearbox, is part of a machine or vehicle which uses direct contact and friction to operate another part of the machine. This is generally by causing it to rotate and thereby powering the machine. In the case of a car, the clutch allows the transmission and the engine to rotate at the same speed, which transmits rotational movement to the wheels, and therefore the vehicle is able to move forward. The friction between the flywheel on the engine and the clutch plate or clutch disc from the transmission creates the force which is used to power the car. Clutches can be classed as either wet or dry depending on whether they are lubricated, and clutches may also be categorised into a push or pull type.
